Divya Pinge, Head- Research and Varun Reddy, Assistant Manager- Research and Programs, from Impact Investors Council (IIC), had the opportunity to visit the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) of Saahas Zero Waste in Bangalore, allowing the team to witness firsthand the meticulous operations involved in waste management, and gaining a deeper understanding of the waste life cycle; from how collected waste is efficiently sorted and categorized to the crucial role played by every individual in ensuring smooth operations.

IIC’s CEO, Girish Aivalli, participated in a panel discussion on the 'Donor Landscape for Addressing Air Pollution' during UNEP’s ‘National Workshop on Unlocking Finances to Support Climate & Clean Air Solutions in India’ on August 9th. During the session, Girish highlighted notable investments in the climate tech space, showcasing how prominent investors are supporting emerging enterprises tackling air pollution, such as Neev Fund’s investment in Chakr Innovation and Avaana Capital’s backing of Praan. He also emphasized the critical role of the government in mobilizing capital for social enterprises through the investment arms of SIDBI and LIC.

Girish Aivalli, CEO of IIC, spoke at the UNESCAP event - ‘Inclusive Business Landscape in India: Study Launch and Dialogue’, sharing his insights on promoting inclusive business models in India, with a focus on Telangana and Haryana. During the session, Girish highlighted inclusive agribusinesses funded by IIC members, including Omnivore’s investments in DeHaat, Arya.ag, and Ecozen; Menterra’s support for Iron Kettle; and Caspian’s backing of Balwaan Krishi.
