1 Can you tell us the story of CureBay from your perspective, including its founding, evolution, and key milestones that have led to its current success?
|
In the wake of the COVID-19 upheaval, something became startlingly clear to me: the healthcare divide between urban and rural India is a deep chasm. While those in bustling cities could access specialized hospitals, rural communities, making up a staggering 65% of our population, grappled with the most basic medical services. This disparity struck a chord within me, as well as my friends Shobhan Mahapatra and Sanjay Swain. We couldn't ignore the fact that despite numerous government initiatives, a significant portion of our population still lacked proper healthcare. So, in 2021, we decided to take action.
Our brainchild, CureBay, emerged as a response to this need. Picture this: leveraging technology and empathy to deliver top-notch healthcare to remote corners. We aimed to bridge not just geographical gaps, but also the disparity in healthcare quality. CureBay has already touched the lives of thousands, making healthcare accessible and affordable. It's about more than just medical treatment; it's about empowerment. It's about shattering the barriers that separate healthcare haves from have-nots.
CureBay isn't just a healthcare startup; it's our endeavor to redefine healthcare access. With 50 eClinics across 18 districts in Odisha, we're weaving a network that connects the dots. From handling more than 36,000 happy patients to securing a recent Rs 50 crore investment for launching 100 eClinics, our journey has only just begun. As I reflect on this journey, I'm humbled by the impact we've made and the lives we've touched. Together with my friends, we're working towards a vision of healthcare equality.

2 Could you discuss CureBay’s financial sustainability model and how you plan to grow the enterprise in the future?
|
CureBay's vision is unwavering, and our mission is crystal clear: advancing primary healthcare accessibility and quality in Rural India drives us every day. Our expansion plans are ambitious, aiming to establish 100 new eClinics in underserved rural areas by the close of 2023. It's an immense undertaking, but a necessary one to meet the surging demand for healthcare in these regions.
Beyond expanding our network, we're determined to fortify our collaborations with healthcare providers. This involves forging partnerships with hospitals, clinics, and individual doctors. By combining our efforts, we can offer a more comprehensive and coordinated approach to healthcare delivery in rural India. These steps align seamlessly with our overarching goal of enhancing primary healthcare accessibility and quality across the country.
Technology is our ally in this endeavor. Our telemedicine platform is set to evolve in 2023, incorporating features like remote patient monitoring, electronic health records, and AI-driven diagnostics. These strides enable us to deliver even more personalized healthcare solutions to our patients.
Empowerment through awareness is pivotal. We're expanding our community engagement programs this year, focusing on educating individuals about preventive healthcare measures, hygiene practices, and disease management. Informed decisions about health are crucial, and we're committed to arming communities with the knowledge they need to thrive.
Evolution is constant in healthcare. Continuous improvement is a guiding principle. In 2023, we're investing in research and development to stay at the forefront of healthcare technology. By staying innovative, we ensure that our patients benefit from the latest medical advancements available.
Our team is our foundation & healthcare professionals are the backbone of our organization. Attracting and retaining top talent is our priority. This year, our focus is on talent acquisition and training, nurturing a workforce that's both highly skilled and deeply compassionate.
Financial resilience is a cornerstone of our eClinics, built upon the foundation of an asset-light approach and assisted healthcare delivery. Our unwavering commitment revolves around delivering "dignity of care," bringing exceptional, cost-effective healthcare to underserved communities. Notably, all our services are rendered with value, ensuring a sustainable commercial model. Through this model, our eClinics become self-sufficient within a span of 12 to 18 months, bolstered by revenue generation.
Our journey is propelled by the unswerving commitment to bringing healthcare equality to every corner of India. With expansion, technological innovation, community engagement, constant improvement, and a dedicated team, we're poised to make a genuine impact on the lives of millions.

3 Can you elaborate on the specific medical services or treatments that CureBay focuses on, and could you emphasize on the role of technology to improve healthcare access?
|
CureBay, the healthcare technology company we founded, is dedicated to making affordable and accessible healthcare a reality for underserved markets. Our range of medical services and treatments includes:
Teleconsultations: Patients can connect with doctors through video chats for various medical needs, from diagnosing illnesses to prescribing medication and offering general health guidance.
Diagnostics: We provide diverse diagnostic tests like blood tests, urine tests, and imaging scans.
Health checkups: Our collaboration with hospitals and clinics enables us to offer cost-effective health checkup packages for individuals and families.
Hospital admission: We facilitate admissions to partner hospitals for patients requiring specialized care.
By leveraging technology, we ensure accurate diagnoses. Our telehealth services grant doctors access to detailed patient records, enabling diagnoses equivalent to in-person consultations. We integrate IoT-adaptive technology and medical-grade devices, such as an HD ultraportable device with a diagnosis camera, to enhance diagnosis accuracy. After diagnosis, patients gain access to certified partner labs and hospitals for specialized treatment and medication delivery through our eClinics. Our goal is to bridge the healthcare gap between rural areas and cities, providing top-quality care regardless of location.

4 How does CureBay measure the effectiveness and reach of its healthcare programs in terms of improving health outcomes and addressing medical disparities?
|
At CureBay, we evaluate the impact and scope of our healthcare initiatives through several approaches, ensuring better health outcomes and addressing medical disparities. Here's how we do it:
Tracking patient health metrics: We monitor various health metrics like blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and BMI to gauge the effectiveness of our programs on individual health.
Benchmarking patient outcomes: We compare patient results with national benchmarks to assess overall program efficacy. For instance, we measure our patients' average blood pressure against the national average to understand the impact.
Patient surveys: We gather patient feedback on program effectiveness through surveys. Questions about satisfaction, perceived health improvements, and care accessibility help us understand the impact better.
Conducting focus groups: We engage patients in focus groups to delve deeper into their perspectives. This provides valuable insights into program experiences and areas for enhancement.
Analyzing claims data: Claims data analysis helps us track healthcare service utilization, revealing how our programs affect overall patient care costs.
Quality improvement methods: We employ quality improvement techniques to identify program areas needing enhancement. Data guides us in identifying issues, creating, testing, and implementing effective solutions.
Research initiatives: We conduct research to evaluate the impact of our healthcare initiatives. Our findings are shared in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
Collaboration with partners: We team up with various organizations to exchange best practices and knowledge, from healthcare providers to community organizations and government agencies.
Empowering Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs): We are establishing a cost-effective distribution model that aims to bridge the gap in healthcare accessibility within the community, addressing the last-mile challenge through our Swasthya Mitra initiative. Empowered by technology, we are cultivating a network of VLEs known as Swasthya Mitras, which serve as crucial intermediaries connecting our eClinics with patients who may have difficulty accessing our facilities. Through our Swasthya Mitra program, we ensure that vital healthcare services like Doctor Consultations, Sample Collection, and Medication Delivery are brought to the doorstep of patients in need.
By employing diverse methodologies, we ensure that the care we offer at CureBay remains of the highest quality, tailored to our patients' needs.

5 What inspiring stories or testimonials can you share that highlight the tangible impact of CureBay's work on individuals and communities' health and well-being?
|
Allow me to share the inspiring story of Basanti Das, a 63-year-old resident of Ali Pingala, a remote village in Puri district. Basanti suffered a persistent non-healing cut on her finger, which led to a diabetes diagnosis. Unfortunately, there were no specialists available in the local government hospitals. She sought help from private clinics, but her glucose levels remained high. To complicate matters, she purchased medicines without consulting a doctor. This is where CureBay stepped in. We connected Basanti with a specialist from Bhubaneswar. With the right diagnosis and medication, her glucose levels normalized, and she now manages her diabetes effectively. Basanti's success story is just one among many. Our services are transforming rural India's access to quality healthcare, bridging gaps that were once insurmountable. CureBay's platform has the potential to revolutionize healthcare by connecting patients with specialists and bringing positive change to India's healthcare landscape.
