🌾 Post-Event Highlights | In-Person Convening on “The Role of Different Types of Capital in the Impact Continuum for the Agriculture Sector in India” 🌱✨

The convening on 26th November 2025 brought together funders, practitioners, and ecosystem leaders to explore how diverse forms of capital can accelerate climate-resilient and inclusive growth in India’s agriculture sector. A key highlight of the convening was the launch of our new whitepaper, offering deeper insights into financing pathways for the agriculture ecosystem.

📄 Read the whitepaper here https://iiic.in/research-publication/#Rockefeller-Agriculture-2025

Discussions pointed to core barriers such as trust and data gaps at the farmer level, long timelines for agri-solutions to become investment-ready, and regulatory constraints restricting catalytic and debt capital. Participants also noted the limited scalability of agri-tech models, inconsistent funding for grassroots organisations, and the challenges smallholder farmers face in accessing CSA solutions and commercial credit.

The dialogue also highlighted clear solution pathways for strengthening FPOs and CSOs to build trust and adoption, using proven case studies to guide investor decision-making, and leveraging blended finance tools, including guarantees and innovative debt structures, to enable scale. Strengthening market linkages, building local capacity, and promoting data-backed CSA solutions with stronger ecosystem and government alignment emerged as essential accelerators.

The convening closed with a shared commitment to collaborate more deeply and harness capital innovatively to drive a resilient, inclusive, and scalable future for India’s agriculture sector.

🏢 Session Summary - IIC–NSE Closed-Door Consultative Session on the Social Stock Exchange

Held on 28 November 2025, the IIC–NSE closed-door consultative session convened leading impact investors, non-profits, and market architects to accelerate capital mobilization through India’s Social Stock Exchange (SSE). The discussion focused on aligning regulatory clarity, investor incentives, and operational efficiency to strengthen the SSE’s role in democratizing fundraising for high-impact organisations.

Participants recognised the strong momentum behind the SSE’s foundational framework while emphasising gaps around retail discoverability, broker engagement, and the willingness of smaller NPOs to participate. NSE outlined emerging enablers including deeper banking platform integration, retail visibility through discount brokers, and a ₹5 lakh capacity-building incentive to ease listing costs. The discussion also touched on unlocking CSR flows through regulatory streamlining, easing current FCRA constraints, and evolving beyond ZCZPs into hybrid and capital-stacking instruments to enable larger outcomes. Strengthening public familiarity and driving repeat donor behaviour through broader engagement campaigns - akin to “Mutual Fund Sahi Hai” - was noted as key for scale.
